Calculate your Networth

Its always nice to know what ones net worth is....and is it sufficient, is it an indication of how you are doing and more importantly will you continue to do well...

I came across a simple equation which is quite profound to say the least.

The equation basically states that your current net worth should be

Current Net Worth = Age * Annual Salary / 10

which basically means that if your current net worth is greater than this curve you are doing well, and your assets would let you do well in the future as well....however if not then pull up your socks and start investing!!!

Think about it and write in with your comments. Would like to hear from you guys!

Power of Excel !!!

Am dabbling with excel these days.... I mean in terms of calculating returns from various asset classes. And after some time, excel starts to speak itself :) well figuratively speaking...spending hours and hours with excel starts throwing up hidden numbers and strategies that can well at best be called, eye openers / game changers etc etc....

I am working on some of them, if they work well then they will give a clear sense of direction...

lets see. how it goes...I know this post might be little confusing to you guys as to what to take out from it...well my submission is whatever you guys plan to do, work the numbers out...hard very hard....see if they add up and what needs to be done at which month / which year etc becomes very clear....

will post a more elaborate finding soon.....

High Volatility

Move of going long did not pay off...yet thankfully came out w/o any losses. Went long at 4868, the markets went up to 4930 odd but fell down the next day sharply. finally i covered at 4818...booked a loss...yest however markets started strong and there was an inkling that markets would go up again, hence i went long at 4868, however today I closed my position at 4900 since there was no conviction in markets going up. so net net no profit no loss...however markets are looking very weak...however i dont have the belief to short it, rather i would wait for it to go up and then take long positions
